Naturally flawless skin

Scars are a natural part of healing and occur over an injured area through inflammatory response.  When the skin is wounded, the tissues break, which causes a protein called collagen to be released. Collagen builds up where the tissue is damaged, helping to heal and strengthen the wound. New collagen continues forming for several months and as blood supply increases, it causes the scar to become raised and lumpy.  Below are typical types of scars and their descriptions.

KELOID SCARS

are caused by excessive collagen deposits often occuring during infection and also caused by burns, chicken pox, piercings, vaccinations, scratches and surgical procedures.

.

HYPERTROPHIC SCARS

Similar to keloid scars, hypertrophic scars are rarely more than four millimeters above the skin and are redish pink in color and become hard and itchy over time because it is primarily a buildup of type 3 collagen at the site.  Along with the essential oils discussed below, silicone gel sheets are also useful to treat these types of scars (discussed below) because they act as band-aids to help seal the oils and heal scars as they lessen scar pain and redness.

CONTRACTURE SCARS

Are typically the result of a burn which tightens the skin and is similar to a burn which affects muscles and nerve tissue.

ACNE SCARS

Are deep pits or angular and wavelike and sometimes caused by genetics.
